Tatum Independent School District is located in East Texas and boasts the 2nd largest school district in Rusk County. Tatum Primary School is located at 1200 North Hill Street in Tatum, Texas. We have approximately 360 students in Pre-K, Kindergarten & 1st and 2nd Grades! WE love our school, our community and our Tatum Eagles!
Dear Families,
It is with great honor and excitement that I introduce myself as the principal at Tatum Primary. Kids are my ministry, and I have maintained the same unwavering passion for education and the success of ALL kids for my entire 20+ years of education. I am truly honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a rich tradition that has produced so many outstanding students.
Throughout my career as an educator, I have served in many capacities, from secondary education to primary education, general education to special ed teacher, behavior units, transition specialist, coach, counselor, and assistant principal. In each of these roles, I have always remained committed to giving ALL students my 110%, "Every Kid, Every Day, Whatever it Takes". I have always sought to ensure the success of each student by providing the best instructional, extracurricular opportunities and social/emotional support and love.
This upcoming year will be all about " Team Work". An excellent education is not possible without the excellent collaboration and strong relationships with students, parents, and staff. In addition, research shows that parental involvement in a child’s education benefits the child. These benefits are higher levels of academic achievement, positive attitudes, and greater maturity and responsibility. Because the benefits are so solid, I urge you to be as active as possible in the life of our school. It does take an entire village to raise a child. Your assistance as a volunteer would be extremely valuable to our students and many other areas where your help would be appreciated.
As your principal, it is important to me that everyone that steps through our doors- students, teachers, and parents are excited to be here! Our teachers are ready to meet academic excellence in a positive, fun and nurturing environment. They will do whatever it takes to see your child be successful. I am here to back our wonderful staff in all that they do, and to help be a part of your child’s success.
Our staff is committed to working with students and their families as a team. The rigorous curriculum is directly aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). To help each child achieve to his/her fullest potential, the school provides both enrichment and intervention supports for students. At TPS, we believe that “Every Child Matters” and “Every Day Counts.”
